Main Findings of National Economic Census 2018 of Nepal

 The Central Bureau of Statistics, Nepal has published the Final Results of National Economic Census 2018. Here are few highlights.
  • Total establishments in the country is 923,356. Out of them only 50.1 percent(462,605) are registered. 
  • By province, province no 3 has the greatest number of establishments (31 percent of the total).

  • By district, Kathmandu has the greatest number of establishments(13.5 percent of the total).
  • The top five districts with greatest number of establishments are Kathmandu, Jhapa, Rupendehi, Morang and Sunsari.
 
  • Total employment created is 3,228,457. Out of which 2,012,237(62.3 percent) are male and 1,216,220 (37.7 percent) are female.
  • By province, the establishments of province 3 have provided largest number of employment opportunities.

  • Employment per establishment is 3.5 persons.  
  • About 29.7 percent of the establishments are owned by females and 29.8 percent of them have female owners.  
  • About 54 percent of the managers are young managers (below 40 years)

  • About 46.7 percent of the establishments have their own building or room while 49.7 percent have rented building/room. 
  • About 3.7 percent of the establishments are running as street business. 
  • By sectors,  almost 54 percent of the establishments are in wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repairs that has provided greatest number of employment (30.6 percent).
  • The sectors with greatest number of establishments are : wholesale and retail trade, accommodation and food service activities and manufacturing. Likewise, the sectors that provide greatest number of employment opportunities are : wholesale and retail trade, education and manufacturing.
